The Orris family planned a big family vacation to Charleston this year and they booked the perfect hotel that is close to everything: The Mills House. We met there to begin our walk/photo session. They wanted some family photos that showed “the charm of the South”. With all the cobblestone streets, live oaks, and beautiful Charleston architecture, I think they picked the perfect location!

As I write this blog post, Dennise and Mitchell are snuggling their new arrival, baby Ryker! I’m so excited to meet him tomorrow for his Fresh 48 session.

In March I met Ruth and her family in Washington Square Park in downtown Charleston for their family maternity session. Baby Sarah arrived earlier this month (stay tuned for photos…) I love late March sessions because the azaleas are at their peak!

Family beach sessions are booking quickly this summer! I’m excited to see some returning clients who rent beach houses at Folly or Isle of Palms every year and some new folks too. 🙂 Info: Beach sessions take place the hour before sunset (around 7ish depending on the date). I can meet you at your beach house or another location. I keep a couple dates open each week in case of rain.

I am now offering sessions with a “country feel” just an hour and 15 minutes outside of Charleston in Lone Star, South Carolina. Lone Star is close to the town of Santee. Fox Trot Plantation is a private farm with acres of forests, fields, peach trees, old barns, and even chickens! In October, the cotton fields are ready for harvest (and photo opportunities!) So if you’re looking for something different for your family photos, consider a day trip to the country.

I love when extended families meet at the beach for one magical week each summer. The Leong Family gets the same beach house on Isle of Palms every year. They always take a family photo, but this year they went all out and hired a pro. 🙂
